The Michael Drew Fund for Oncology Nurse Education

By Julie Drew

We've created this page in memory of Michael Drew

The Michael Drew Fund for Oncology Nurse Education was established by Professor Desmond Carney in tribute of one of his longest-standing patients - our husband and Dad, Michael Drew. The nature of the fund reflects the great relationship that Dad had with the oncology nurses in the Mater Private, who treated him for many years.

Since the fund was established in 2019 the Drew family have continued to raise funds through events and challenges, in the hope of making a significant difference in the lives of cancer patients from all around Ireland.

On Dad's third anniversary, 10 August 2022, we received an update from the Mater Hospital Foundation to confirm that, at that point, the fund has helped 12 nurses upskill to provide the best in patient care and advance in their careers. We are delighted that Dad has left such a positive legacy, that will benefit so many people.

This is a cause close to our hearts and we hope that you may be able to support by giving whatever you can and by sharing this page with your friends, family and contacts.

Thank you so much for your generosity.

Hi Julie, I was in SDU with your dad many years ago. He was a decent honourable individual and I’m delighted to be able to support your great work. Jim Hill
